No efficiency boilers cost more than gas repair parts and have more parties?
My parents had a new boiler than mine. When there was a gas valve replacement costs about $ 500. I called a different HVAC company and they told me was correct. I'm trying to assess the appropriateness to buy a new boiler. I have an old Maclean-Weil (hoping that right) about 40 years for a two-storey house with about 1800 square feet, more sub-basement.
Yes, more parts and some are electronic, they are expensive. Gas valves are expensive but it sounds a little high for me at least $ 100 for only a valve. Maybe that also includes the provision of services. Overall, I doubt the higher efficiency of a gas boiler to pay that much. I usually tend to say if it is working then leave it. If it was much higher than the 40 years that could be worthwhile. I imagine that are closer to 80% efficiency at that age, that generating units. Older children may be 60% -65%. To get to 90 + that add a lot of things that cost more, as a draft inducer fans and sensors for her and intermittent ignition. More services are needed. Then earn only about 10% or 15% max. for investment. But the time of payment is directly proportional the cost of gas. Unless you intend to stay in the house for many, many years, probably will not bear fruit. And investing the money in the purchase cost of generating enough income to cover the cost of slightly lower efficiency, IMO. Good Luck.
