What does the Apple Xserve do?

The Xserve is a server that runs Mac OS X Server, mainly for setting up and administering a large network of Apple computers, and can also set up a network with Windows and Unix machines as well. It is a server, meaning it can run headless (without a keyboard/mouse/monitor) but it is a good idea to have them so you can control computers (the Xserve can do things like shut down computers remotely). IT can also do other tasks like run a web site, and many more. Check out the Xserve website for more info.
BTW: it is designed to go in “stacks”: the term is rack-mountable, and the Xserves can be mounted in a rack to take up less room.
